Spotlight | darning needles
If you're new to the world of darning then finding the right needles can be tricky. Here are the ones I use on a daily basis - most of which you can find in my shop.

🪡 Tapestry darning needles: My absolute go to. The wide eye and blunt tip makes them great for a huge variety of threads/fabrics with minimal snagging.
🪡 Fine cotton darning needles: Great for darning t-shirts and fine cotton socks.

🪡 Ball tipped darning needles: Tons of different sizes to match your thread/fabric thickness and the ball tip helps to minimise snags as you darn.
🪡 Bent tip tapestry darning needle: Extra chunky and the bent tip makes weaving over and under your warp threads a breeze.
If you'd like to learn more about how to use these needles and get mending your favourite well worn clothes, keep your eyes peeled as I'm going to be launching something new soon :)
And do let me know if there are other darning needles you swear by - I'd love to hear about your favourite mending tools!

I found this so helpful! I really appreciate posts that get into the details like this!
Hi! I am a long time needle arts person. I have only recently began an exciting journey into the newer idea of visible mending and darning. What I have discovered is that my ability to find, or in come cases even name, speciality tools is severely compromised with the loss of local needle craft stores, including leather/shoe repair shops. Do you have a recommendation for a website for identifying and purchasing speciality tools/products?
